From sea to plate, Seafish delivers expert knowledge; skills and support which help the UK seafood industry secure a sustainable and profitable future.
The Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish) works across all sectors of the UK seafood industry to promote good quality, sustainable seafood. Our research and projects are aimed at raising standards, improving efficiency and ensuring that our industry develops in a viable way. We are the UK’s only cross-industry seafood body working with fishermen, processors, wholesalers, seafood farmers, fish friers, caterers, retailers and the import/export trade.
Seafish is organised into two directorates; Operations and Communications. Each of these directorates is split into work programmes that deliver services according to the needs of the seafood industry.
The majority of the Communications directorate is based in Edinburgh. This directorate is concerned with promoting a responsible industry, to help manage the reputation of seafood.
The Operations directorate is based in Grimsby and Edinburgh. It provides in-depth data and research to the industry, and covers everything from economic surveys, providing up-to-date market information to information on sub-sea hazards.
We also have regional delivery and interface teams which work with industry all across the UK to facilitate further work of regional and national importance.
